Guided by the Genius Loci—the spirit of place—Querciabella has spent nearly two decades exploring Chianti Classico. Through meticulous research, single-parcel vinification, and careful tasting, each vineyard reveals its purest expression, translating the unique dialogue between site and Sangiovese into wines of clarity, elegance, and precision.
This vision is realised with the release of three Querciabella Gran Selezione 2021 from Greve, Radda, and Lamole, each capturing the distinct character of its origin.

On the western side of the commune of Radda in Chianti, along the right bank of the Pesa, the three parcels — Bagnaccio, Oasi and Rialdoli — have been part of Querciabella since 2007.
The 14.5 hectares lie between 400 and 450 metres above sea level on predominantly Macigno del Chianti soils. Rialdoli is more exposed, with greater airflow and rockier, freer-draining soils; Bagnaccio is cooler, more humid and richer in clay; Oasi combines elements of both within a more sheltered environment, surrounded by woodland and natural vegetation.
Radda generally benefits from a cooler climate, with pronounced diurnal temperature variation during the ripening period. Combined with steady ventilation, these conditions support a slow, even and extended maturation of Sangiovese.
The wines show darker fruit expression, finely structured tannins and vibrant acidity, conveying tension and depth with precision and excellent ageing potential.

The 2021 Gran Selezione Radda reveals the darker, more structured side of Sangiovese from the galestro-rich slopes of Oasi at 450 m. Aromas of black cherry, violets, pine needles, and subtle earth are layered with mineral tension. Medium-bodied but powerful, the wine combines vibrant acidity with fine, persistent tannins and a chalky, resonant finish, expressing depth, intensity, and the distinctive character of this cooler, slower-ripening site.
Structured, precise, and intensely expressive, Radda reveals darker fruit, persistent tannins, and vibrant acidity. Its tension and depth make it a perfect companion to rich, savory dishes with layered flavors, or more daring, exotic creations.
