Guided by the Genius Loci—the spirit of place—Querciabella has spent nearly two decades exploring Chianti Classico. Through meticulous research, single-parcel vinification, and careful tasting, each vineyard reveals its purest expression, translating the unique dialogue between site and Sangiovese into wines of clarity, elegance, and precision.
This vision is realised with the release of three Querciabella Gran Selezione 2021 from Greve, Radda, and Lamole, each capturing the distinct character of its origin.
Since 2020, Querciabella has managed 8.5 hectares of vineyards in Casole, within the Lamole UGA, one of the highest areas of the Chianti Classico denomination. Situated between 500 and nearly 650 metres above sea level, the vines are planted on steep, historic terraces that have shaped the landscape for centuries.
Here, Sangiovese grows on sandy, light, well-drained soils derived from Macigno del Chianti, interspersed with clay and schist. Altitude, abundant water availability and the cooling influence of surrounding chestnut forests preserve freshness, lift and aromatic clarity.

The 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Lamole is a bracing, high-altitude Sangiovese that captures the essence of this unique site. Medium-bodied and elegantly structured, the palate is precise and taut, with lifted acidity, delicate savoury nuances, and a refined mineral backbone. Aromas of sliced plums, cherries, and dried orange peel intertwine with subtle floral and earthy hints, creating a harmonious bouquet. Though restrained in its youth, the wine’s poised tension promises graceful evolution, revealing a luminous, ethereal Sangiovese.
Light and aromatic, with lifted savoury tension, Lamole pairs beautifully with dishes that echo its grace and high-altitude freshness.
