Zekun Shuai, the associate editor in Beijing, lists Querciabella Chianti Classico 2016 in James Suckling TOP10 Great value wines.
Echoing James Suckling himself, who tasted this wine back in July 2018, Querciabella Chianti Classico 2016
“shows real concentration (…) with notes of brambleberries, blackcurrants, black cherries and baking spices. Full body, grippy tannins and loads of fruit. But this remains refined and elegant, all thanks to the precise acidity.” (93/100)
2016 is reputed by many as one of the most memorable vintages of the last decade, especially for Chianti Classico.
The almost perfect ripening conditions for Sangiovese allowed for great phenolic maturation, bright fruit flavours and zesty acidity.
The 10 wines listed on jamessuckling.com all retail in the US for less than 30$ and are excellent examples of the incredible quality and value you can get from an excellent Chianti Classico.
