Michaela Morris Scores the Gallo Nero

Querciabella’s appellation wines are among the best in Chianti Classico

International wine writer and educator Michaela Morris highly praises Querciabella in her annual feature for Decanter Magazine. Her thorough tasting notes across the denomination’s three categories, Annata, Riserva and Gran Selezione, are among the industry’s most influential reports.

Gran Selezione 2018 · Chianti Classico DOCG
Intense aromas of coffee, grilled fennel and eucalyptus are followed by a refreshing blood orange flavour which invigorates the dense dark cherry core, finishing with lingering incense. There’s a charming accessibility here as skillfully extracted tannins are chewy yet supple. 94/100 —MM

Riserva 2019 · Chianti Classico DOCG
Upfront coffee and mocha permeate dark red cherry, while garnishes of rosemary and sage emerge with coaxing. The palate is confidently weighted yet agile, with beautiful fruit purity of black raspberry ringing out. 94/100 —MM

Querciabella 2020 · Chianti Classico DOCG
Bright and fresh, the 2020 annata emerges energetically out of the glass with exuberant and pure red cherry and currants. It gains intrigue with stylish touches of mocha, tarragon and truffles. It’s full and vigorous yet light on its feet thanks to radiant acidity, while well-formed tannins lend just the right amount of chew. As suave as it is characterful. 92/100 —MM
